QUESTIONS
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What’s included in the registration fee?
Every player gets an MLS GO uniform (reversible jersey, shorts, socks), a qualified coach for the full season, and one free ticket to a local MLS or MLS NEXT Pro match. The early-bird price runs until November 1 in Nassau and December 1 in Suffolk.
How much does WINTER I cost?
$28 per week for every age group, at both locations. Register by November 1 in Nassau or December 1 in Suffolk for 10% off.
How long is each session?
Every session is 1 hour for every age group, held on Sundays in Nassau and Mondays in Suffolk. Every age group plays a game-led session, teaching while playing with foundational skills reinforced through every game.
What happens if it rains?
Nothing. Both programs play indoors all winter, Nassau at Globall Sports Center at Mitchel Athletic Complex and Suffolk at Stony Brook University’s Dubin Family Indoor Training Center, so sessions are never affected by the weather.
How are teams assigned?
The first session is a family education and player assessment session, where you’ll also meet your designated soccer educators. Coaches use it to assign teams with balanced skill levels, so every match is balanced and fun.
Can I request my child play with a friend?
Yes. During registration you can list a teammate request. Requests aren’t guaranteed, and final team assignments are at the league’s discretion, but we do our best to accommodate them.
Is financial assistance available?
Yes. MLS GO has partnered with MLS and the RCX Foundation to offer registration grants for qualifying families. See the Financial Assistance section below for details on how to apply.
What’s your refund policy?
- Refunds: Available (excluding service fees) only if the request is made within 14 days of the original purchase date.
- Start date exception: No refunds are issued within 2 weeks of the program start date, regardless of when the purchase was made.
- Credits: Cancellations that don’t qualify for a cash refund receive a credit for the eligible value, valid for one year on future The Island FC programs.
- Uniform fee: All MLS GO refunds and credits exclude the $40 uniform fee, which is non-refundable.
Financial assistance
MLS GO has partnered with Major League Soccer and the RCX Foundation to offer registration-fee grants for qualifying families, regardless of financial circumstance.
