FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is The Island FC Pre-Academy?
An Island-wide, supplemental player development program for boys and girls in Zone 1 (U6 to U12), with weekly winter sessions led by The Island FC coaching staff in Nassau and Suffolk.
Who can take part?
Boys and girls in Zone 1, U6 to U12, from any club in Nassau or Suffolk.
Does my player keep playing for their hometown club?
Yes. The Pre-Academy is supplemental and designed to complement your hometown community-based club.
How do players join?
Through a Player Evaluation: Nassau on Sun, Nov 22, or Suffolk the week of Mon, Dec 14.
What time do sessions run?
Sessions run by age group, and younger age groups always train earlier. Nassau sessions run on Saturdays between 5pm and 9pm, and Suffolk sessions run on Mondays between 6pm and 8pm. Times for each age group are listed under each location in the Winter Season section.
Are all players who attend the Player Evaluation accepted?
Not every player will be placed. Players are grouped into teams by similar playing ability, which keeps every weekly session at the high standard families expect. Roster spots are also limited due to indoor field availability this winter.
How much does it cost?
$45 per player per session for the winter season. The required uniform and optional competition events are purchased separately.
Is there a required uniform?
Yes. All players wear The Island FC adidas uniform: jersey, shorts and one pair of socks. It's required at every training session and match, so players train in a true professional environment. The uniform is not included in the program fee and ranges from $35 to $45.
Do competition events cost extra?
Yes. Competition events are optional and priced separately, based on the event. These are indoor tournaments or friendly matches against local clubs.
Do I have to sign up for the whole year?
No. The Winter season is registered on its own.
